Michael Mc Crudden

Michael Mc Crudden has been a member of Top of the Hill Celtic Football club since the tender age of six, when the late Keith 'Oxy ' Roddy spotted him kicking a ball around at Lisnagelvin pitches. From that early age Oxy maintained that this boy had talent and would become a professional footballer. Mickey left Derry on the 1st July 2007 to take up a 2 year apprenticeship with English Premier League team Newcastle United. (Newcastle's gain will be Top of the Hill Celtic's loss).
Top of the Hill Celtic youth has been in existence since the early eighties and in that short period of time hundreds of young footballers have come and gone, but if you mention Top of the Hill Celtic anywhere in the town Mc Cruds name will always come to the fore as he is the Clubs first ever player to achieve every young players dream.
Michael is a real credit to himself and his family as he is always a real pleasure to coach, train or manage. He is a very gifted young man who has the ability and trickery to go past defenders at ease and score goals from almost anywhere. His attitude and willingness to learn and improve his game is second to none and this has seen him become one of the best young players at his age in the North of Ireland. Michael is the current Club captain of Top of the Hill Celtic Youths and has always been a great role model for not only his team mates but also for every young player at the club. Over the years Mickey has won numerous trophies with the club and he was voted Derry and District Youth Under 15 Player of the Year last season. He has also been regularly selected for the D&D Foyle Cup and County Derry Milk Cup Squads. At present he is a regular in the Northern Ireland school boys team and this has seen him travel all over Europe playing teams like England, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden & Germany, to name but a few. All the players, Managers and coaching staff at Top of the Hill Celtic would like to take this opportunity to wish Michael all the best in his future career and hope he fulfils his potential. We also want to say that Michael will be sorely missed by all here at the Club and with a bit of luck, hard work and dedication, we as a club think Mc Cruds is a player to look out for in the future.
